We are making our way through the last several weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. Not much is worse than laying down at night and realizing your furnace won’t start up. If this happens to you, here are some things you can check yourself before your call Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning.
Check Air Filters
You should swap out standard air filters each month. If you fail to do so, they can get clogged, restricting air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but make sure the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your furnace will still not start up, give Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning a call at (713) 352-7887 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
